<div><p>From the iSeries™ Navigator window, you can display messages
|
|
in the system-operator (QSYSOPR) or user-message queues.</p>
|
|
<div class="section"> <p>Messages in these queues include information from the operating
|
|
system and other users.</p>
|
|
<p>To display a message, follow these
|
|
steps:</p>
|
|

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>From the iSeries Navigator window, expand the server from
|
|
which you want to work.</span></li>
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Basic Operations</span>.</span></li>
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>To display messages for the server that you selected, click <span class="uicontrol">Messages</span>.
|
|
This displays all the messages for your user profile.</span></li>
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>From the menu bar, select <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Options</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Include</span></span>.</span></li>
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Click the button at the right of the <span class="uicontrol">Messages for</span> field
|
|
to display the <span class="uicontrol">Messages for</span> dialog box.</span></li>
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select the appropriate option to display messages for the current
|
|
user, the system operator, or another user's message queue.</span> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If
|
|
you want to display messages for another user's queue, you must specify the
|
|
user name. To see a list of all users on the system, click <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Browse</span> > <span class="uicontrol">select the user name from the list shown to display the message
|
|
queue</span></span>.</div>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to return to the Include dialog
|
|
box.</span></li>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>(Optional) You can limit the messages that are displayed by severity.
|
|
Severity ratings numerically identify the extent of a problem. To display
|
|
messages with a minimum severity rating (0-99), enter a specific numeric value
|
|
in the <span class="uicontrol">Lowest severity to show</span> field.</span></li>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to save your changes and close
|
|
the Include dialog box.</span></li>

The QSYSMSG message queue is used to handle potentially severe system messages, which are messages that require immediate action.</li>
