<div><p>Adding permissions to an object allows you to control the ability
of others to manipulate that object. With permissions, you can allow some
users to only view objects, while allowing others to actually edit the objects.</p>
<div class="section"> <p>To set permissions to a file or folder, follow these steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>Expand the system that you want
to use in <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol"><span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> Navigator</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">File Systems</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Integrated File System</span></span>. Continue to expand until the object for which you want to
add permissions is visible.</span></li>
<li><span>Right-click the object for which for you want to add permissions
and select <span class="uicontrol">Permissions</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Add</span> on the <span class="uicontrol">Permissions</span> dialog.</span></li>
<li><span>Select one or more users and groups or enter the name of a user
or group in the user or groups name field in the <span class="uicontrol">Add</span> dialog.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>. This will add the users or groups
to the top of the list.</span></li>
<li><span>Click on the <span class="uicontrol">Details</span> button to implement
detailed permissions.</span></li>
<li><span>Apply the permissions you want for the user by checking the box
by the appropriate check box.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>.</span></li>
