<h1 class="topictitle1"><span class="cmdname">CRTLF (Create Logical File)</span> command</h1>
<div><p>The <span class="cmdname">Create Logical File (CRTLF)</span> command can
be used to create files on the source and target servers through the SYSTEM
parameter.</p>
<div class="section"><p> Consider the following items when using the SYSTEM parameter
values:</p>
<ul><li>When you specify *LCL, the file is created on the local server.</li>
<li>When you specify *RMT, the file is created on the remote server. You must
specify a DDM file on the FILE parameter.</li>
<li>When you specify *FILETYPE, if a DDM file has been specified on the FILE
parameter, a remote file is created. If a DDM file has not been specified,
a local file is created.</li>
</ul>

<div class="section"><p>Consider the following items when using this command with DDM:</p>
<ul><li>The parameter FILE is the name of the DDM file that represents the remote
logical file being created. The remote file specified in the DDM file is the
logical file that is created on the remote server (which is also specified
in the DDM file).</li>
<li>The OPTION and GENLVL parameters have no effect on the remote command
sent.</li>
<li>The files specified on the PFILE or JFILE keywords in the DDS for the
logical file must be at the same server location as the logical file being
created.</li>
<li>If *JOB is specified as the value of a parameter or is in the data description
specification (DDS) for that file, the attribute of that source job is used
for file and field attributes. The attribute of the source job is also used
when the default for a file or field attribute is the job attribute.</li>
<li>For a target server other than an <span class="keyword">iSeries™ server</span>:
<ul><li>The format name is ignored.</li>
<li>Only the value of *ALL is supported for the DTAMBRS parameter.</li>
<li>These parameters are ignored: <ul><li>AUT</li>
<li>FRCRATIO</li>
<li>FRCACCPTH</li>
<li>LVLCHK</li>
<li>MAINT</li>
<li>MBR</li>
<li>RECOVER</li>
<li>SHARE</li>
<li>UNIT</li>
<li>WAITFILE</li>
<li>WAITRCD</li>
</ul>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> For <span class="keyword">System/38™</span> targets,
the <span class="cmdname">SBMRMTCMD</span> command can be used to change these attributes.</div>

<li>Only the value of *NONE is supported for the FMTSLR parameter.</li>
<li>FILETYPE must be *DATA.</li>
<li>If a member name is specified, it must match the DDM file name.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>For an <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> target server:
<ul><li>All parameters of the <span class="cmdname">CRTLF</span> command are supported with
one restriction: authorization lists are not allowed for the AUT (public
authority) parameter. DDM cannot guarantee the existence of the authorization
list on the target server or that the same user IDs are in the list if it
does exist. The public authority is changed to *EXCLUDE when you use an authorization
list as a value for the AUT parameter of the <span class="cmdname">CRTLF</span> command.</li>
<li>The file names specified in the DTAMBRS parameter must be the names of
the DDM files that represent the remote based-on physical files. If a member
name was specified as part of the remote file name of the DDM file, then only
that member name can be specified. The member names must be the actual remote
file member names.</li>
