<div><p>After you add a remote journal, you must activate it.</p>
<div class="section"> <p>To activate a remote journal, follow these steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>From iSeries™ Navigator,
expand the system you want to use.</span></li>
<li><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Databases</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Expand the database you want to work with and <span class="uicontrol">Libraries</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Click the library that contains the journal that has the associated
remote journal you want to activate.</span></li>
<li><span>Right-click the journal, and select <span class="uicontrol">Properties</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>On the Journal Properties window, click <span class="uicontrol">Remote Journals</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>On the Remote Journals for window, select the remote journal in
the list of remote journals, then click <span class="uicontrol">Activate</span> to
activate the selected remote journal.</span></li>
<li><span>On the Activate window, select the delivery mode, the starting
receiver, and the processing mode for the activate request.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>.</span></li>
</ol>
<div class="section"> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Notes:</span> <ol><li>Activating a remote journal for the first time creates one or more journal
receivers on the target system.</li>
<li>Activating the remote journal establishes the connection between the source
and remote journal so that journal entry replication can begin.</li>
<li>The remote journal must be inactive before you can activate it. Also,
the remote journal that you are activating must not itself already be replicating
journal entries to other remote journals.</li>
