When output data is written directly to the printer instead of output queue, the job is called a direct print job. When printing direct print job on an SCS printer, the file device type is changed to *SCS by i5/OS. When printing on an IPDS™ printer that is configured with AFP(*NO), the file device type is changed to *IPDS by i5/OS. If the print job has file device type *AFPDS, *USERASCII, *LINE, or *AFPDSLINE, the direct print job is not supported.
