View QSYSOPR or other message queues

Use the DSPMSG CL command to view the QSYSOPR and other message queues which might contain messages that describe an error and might contain possible solutions for the error. These messages are typically a good place to begin troubleshooting. To view the message queues, do the following:

  1. Type DSPMSG MSGQ(message_queue) on the command line and press Enter. message_queue is QSYSOPR or the configured message queue name. For example, DSPMSG MSQ(QSYSOPR)
  2. Locate the error messages created around the time the error occurred.
  3. Move your cursor to the error message of interest and press F1. The system displays more information about the error.
  4. You should note the cause code, the error's description, and possible solutions. Also, record any message IDs, error codes, reference codes, or reason codes.
