LANCNNTMR and LANCNNRTY

The LAN connection timer (LANCNNTMR) and LAN connection retry (LANCNNRTY) parameters of your controller description define the frequency and persistence of polling the remote station to establish a connection

LANCNNTMR specifies how long to wait before polling again. LANCNNRTY specifies how many times to poll. If the system receives no response from the remote station after polling LANCNNRTY times, the following occurs:

The user is notified that contact with the station was unsuccessful.
The system places the controller description in answer mode.
If the remote station signals your system to retry your connection inquiry, your system attempts to establish connection again.

The default *CALC value for LANCNNTMR is 7 seconds. The default *CALC value for LANCNNRTY is 10.

Performance considerations

The default values of the parameters are designed for a single LAN and might cause a connection failure when you access a remote station through a remote bridge. The bridge might slow data traffic enough that the connection timer expires before the remote station's response reaches you. If this is the case, you should increase the values of LANCNNTMR and LANCNNRTY.
