Virtual Ethernet

Virtual Ethernet enables you to establish communication via TCP/IP between logical partitions.

Each partition can define up to 16 virtual local area networks. Partitions defined to use the same port can communicate through that link.

Virtual Ethernet can be used without any additional hardware or software.

• Configure an Ethernet line description for virtual Ethernet
  To configure i5/OS™ to use virtual Ethernet, you must configure the virtual IOA from the primary partition, then create an Ethernet line description.
• Configure TCP/IP for virtual Ethernet
  To assign an IP address to an Ethernet line description, you must configure TCP/IP.
