Prevent Simple Mail Transfer Protocol from starting when TCP/IP starts

You might need to use Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) occasionally, but want to limit the amount of access users have the SMTP server.

To prevent SMTP server jobs from starting automatically when you start TCP/IP, follow these steps:
  1. In iSeries™ Navigator, expand your iSeries Server > Network > Servers > TCP/IP.
  2. Right-click SMTP and select Properties.
  3. Clear Start when TCP/IP starts.
