This topic provides information about how to configure the ASF Tomcat module for your HTTP Server as well as manage your local ASF Tomcat servers with the IBM® Web Administration for i5/OS™ interface.
Use the IBM Web Administration for i5/OS™ interface to configure the ASF Tomcat module for your HTTP Server (powered by Apache), as well as, manage your local ASF Tomcat servers. The interface supports both in-process and out-of-process ASF Tomcat servers.
An in-process ASF Tomcat server runs within an HTTP Server (powered by Apache) process and starts and ends at the same times as the HTTP server. An out-of-process ASF Tomcat server runs in its own process and may be started or stopped independently of the HTTP server. Out-of-process servers make it possible for the HTTP server and the servlet engine to exist on different systems.
The ASF Tomcat module is used by the HTTP Server (powered by Apache) to intercept certain requests and forward them to an ASF Tomcat server anywhere within your network for the servlet engine to handle.
You can enable or disable the ASF Tomcat module without discarding your configuration by doing the following:
You can start or stop an out-of-process ASF Tomcat server by doing the following:
