Using an installation profile to install the media
that contains licensed programs and application programs has several advantages.
- The tasks that operators at the target systems must do other than mounting distribution media are reduced or eliminated.
- You can create customized installation profiles to control the installation at the target systems
- You have the capability to restart after a failure, including bypassing parts of the installation that were successful.
- The number of messages during the installation are reduced or eliminated.
- You can use a user-defined installation program to install applications or further customize the system after a successful installation.
When you use an installation profile, the following operator tasks are eliminated:
- Select the option to install the operating system
- Confirm the installation of the operating system
- Select a language feature
- Confirm a language feature
- Select installation options
- Select IPL options
