Create an APPC controller description
A controller description defines the adjacent systems in the network.
- The use of Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking® (APPN) support
is indicated by specifying APPN(*YES) when creating the controller description.
- The use of high-performance routing (HPR) support is indicated by specifying
HPR(*YES) when creating the controller description.
To create controller descriptions, do the following:
- Type one of these commands on any iSeries™ command line for the type of controller
you need to define and press F4.
- Create Controller Description (APPC) (CRTCTLAPPC)
- Create Controller Description (Systems Network Architecture (SNA) HOST)
(CRTCTLHOST)
- Use the online help information to choose the correct parameter values.
- Press Enter. The controller description is created.
To specify AnyNet® support, you must specify *ANYNW on
the LINKTYPE parameter of the CRTCTLAPPC command. To specify Enterprise Extender
support (SNA over IP using HPR), you must specify *HPRIP on the LINKTYPE parameter
of the CRTCTLAPPC command. Use the online help information to choose the correct
parameter values.
Note:
An APPC controller description is automatically created when
the following is true:
- The AUTOCRTCTL parameter on a token-ring, Ethernet, wireless, or distributed
data interface (DDI) line description is set to *YES.
- The system receives a session start request over the line from a system
without an existing controller.
