Types of message queues

You can use several system queues to receive messages.

The system queues that you can use are as follows:

QSYSOPR message queue

The system operator message queue, QSYSOPR, contains system messages that require a reply from the operator.

To handle the large number of messages that are sent to QSYSOPR, or the configured message queue, a message queue parameter (MSGQ) exists for the following line and controller descriptions:
  • Line descriptions: Distributed Data Interface, Ethernet, Frame-Relay, token-ring, X.25
  • Controller descriptions: APPC, Async, Local Workstation, Remote Workstation, SNA Host, Virtual Workstation
