Examples of <span class="keyword">System/38</span> and <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> extensions to the architecture are the <span class="cmdname">Submit Remote Command (SBMRMTCMD)</span> and processing file members of remote files. For creating a file when the source is an <span class="keyword">iSeries server</span> and the target is also an <span class="keyword">iSeries server</span>, an <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> extension is used.</p> <p>Target servers that are not <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> servers or <span class="keyword">System/38</span>s might not be capable of handling all of the functions that an <span class="keyword">iSeries server</span> or a <span class="keyword">System/38</span> can handle. For example, a <span class="keyword">System/36™</span> does not support relative record processing and keyed record processing with one open operation; therefore, programs that mix accessing records in a file by key or relative record do not work if the file is on a <span class="keyword">System/36</span>.
