If you are running i5/OS® V5R4 on the primary and all of the other partitions on the server are logical partitions, it is strongly recommended that you print the server configuration for all of your I/O resources.
The primary partition auxiliary storage must be protected using RAID or mirroring to minimize loosing the logical partition configuration. Logical partition configuration information is not saved during the save process, and therefore a printout will be required to allocate appropriate resources should you have to recover your server in a disaster recovery scenario.
You will also need to print the server configuration report for all logical partitions should you need to perform an MES (Miscellaneous Equipment Specification) also known as hardware upgrade to your server with logical partitions. This information will assist your IBM® Business Partner or IBM Marketing Representative to understand how your server I/O resources are assigned to the logical partitions.
