Feedback area layouts

This information discusses open and I/O feedback areas.

Figures in this topic describe the open and I/O feedback areas associated with tape or diskette files. The program presents the following information for each item in these feedback areas:

• Offset, which is the number of bytes from the start of the feedback area to the location of each item
• Data Type
• The program gives the length in number of bytes
• Contents, which is the description of the item and the valid values for it
• File type, which is an indication of what file types are valid for each item
