Delete NWSDs for a logical partition

Read to learn how to unlink and delete network server descriptions (NWSD) from your logical partition.

Before you delete a NWSD, you are required to unlink storage spaces that are associated with that NWSD. Then you can delete the NWSD. See Unlink disk drives from a logical partition for more information on how to unlink NWSDs.
To unlink the storage space for the server drive for NWSDs complete the following steps:
  1. On the i5/OS® command line, type RMVNWSSTGL NWSSTG(nwsdname1) NWSD(nwsdname).
  2. Press Enter.

Unlink storage space

To unlink the storage space for the install source drive complete the following steps:
  1. On the i5/OS command line, type RMVNWSSTGL NWSSTG(nwsdname2) NWSD(nwsdname) and press Enter.
  2. Any user defined storage spaces that have been linked to the NWSD can also be removed at this time using the following command as often as needed
    1. On the i5/OS command line, type RMVNWSSTGL NWSSTG(nwsstgname) NWSD(nwsdname).
    2. Press Enter.

Delete the NWSD

To delete the network server description (NWSD) for a logical partition complete the following steps:
  1. On the i5/OS command line, type WRKNWSD and press Enter.
  2. Type 8 in the Opt field to the left of the Network Server and press Enter. The Work with Configuration Status display appears.
  3. If the status of the NWSD is not varied off, type 2 in the Opt field to the left of the Network Server and press Enter. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
  4. Press F3 to return to the previous screen.
  5. Type 4 in the Opt field to the left of the Network Server and press Enter.
  6. Press Enter in the Confirm Delete of Network Server Descriptions display.
