TCP/IP troubleshooter

Determine whether the Host name search priority prompt is set to *REMOTE.

From the Configure TCP/IP menu, select option 12 (Change TCP/IP domain information). View the Host name search priority parameter.

If you set the Host name search priority to *REMOTE, the system first checks the DNS server to resolve the host name before it checks the local host table. If you set the Host name search priority to *LOCAL, the system first checks the local host table to resolve the host name before it checks a DNS server. Note: If you are using IPv6, there is no support for IPv6 addresses in local host tables.
