Gather detailed DHCP error information

There are a couple of ways to find out the error details behind the problem that you are encountering.

First, look at the DHCP server job log, using the follow steps:
  1. In iSeries Navigator, expand your iSeries server > Network > Servers > TCP/IP > DHCP.
  2. Right-click DHCP, and then select Server Jobs.

If there are no messages in the DHCP server job log, it might be necessary to collect the information from the iSeries™ Communication Trace or the DHCP server's internal program trace. The iSeries Communication Trace helps determine whether the client requests are reaching the DHCP server and whether the DHCP server is responding to the client. If the client requests are reaching the DHCP server, but the server is not responding, use the DHCP server internal program trace function.
