Clear nonreporting resources on logical partitions

Attention: Do not run this procedure if ANY hardware is marked as failed. Only run this procedure when all server hardware is completely operational.

After you add, remove, or move hardware within a server with logical partitions, you may have resources that are no longer available, that are listed twice, or that are no longer on the server.

You can clean up these listings so that all nonreporting resources are erased from the configuration data for the logical partition.

You can use the iSeries™ Navigator to clear non-reporting logical partition resources. To clear non-reporting logical partitioning resources using My Connections, follow these steps:

  1. In iSeries Navigator, expand My Connections or your active environment.
  2. Select the primary partition of the system.
  3. Expand Configuration and Service and select Logical Partitions.
  4. Select the partition from which you would like to clear non-reporting logical partitioning resources.
  5. Right-click the Logical Partition and select Configure Partitions. You are now working in the Configure Logical Partitions window.
  6. Right-click Physical System and select Recovery and Clear non-reporting partitioning resources.

To clear non-reporting logical partitioning resources using the service tools window, follow these steps:

  1. In iSeries Navigator, select My Connections or your active environment.
  2. Select Open iSeries Navigator service tools window in the Taskpad window. If the Taskpad window is not displayed, select View and select Taskpad.
  3. Enter the IP address of the service tool network interface to which you want to connect. Click OK.
  4. You will be prompted for your Service Tools User ID and user password.
  5. Expand the system name select Logical Partitions.
  6. Select the partition from which you would like to clear non-reporting logical partitioning resources.
  7. Right-click the logical partition and select Configure Partitions. You are now working in the Configure Logical Partitions window.
  8. Right-click Physical System and select Recovery and Clear non-reporting partitioning resources.

To clear non-reporting logical partitioning resources using Management Central, follow these steps:

  1. In iSeries Navigator, expand Management Central.
  2. Expand Systems with Partitions.
  3. Select the physical system that has the logical partition with which you want to work.
  4. Select the partition from which you would like to clear non-reporting logical partitioning resources.
  5. Right-click the logical partition and select Configure Partitions. You are now working in the Configure Logical Partitions window.
  6. Right-click Physical System and select Recovery and Clear non-reporting partitioning resources.
