When to check service level function

You can use When to check service level, a function of iSeries Access for Windows, on the PC to detect updates to iSeries Access for Windows and related components on the iSeries server and also to distribute service packs to client PCs

The When to check service level function automatically checks the host iSeries server for updates to any installed components. If updates are available, the user is usually alerted, and asked to allow the update. This opens Selective Setup in a special mode and updates the appropriate component.

To define options for checking the service level, go to the Service tab of iSeries Access for Windows Properties. From there you can set the following parameters:

Note: Policies can set limitations for the above functions. For example, if a policy sets a certain value to control the number of days between checking the service level, this value cannot not be overruled by changing the above parameters.
