Upgrade from V4R4, V4R5, or V5R1 to an interim release

Though upgrades from V4R4, V4R5, and V5R1 to V5R4 are not supported, the following upgrades are supported:

• V4R4 and V4R5 upgraded to V5R1
• V4R5 and V5R1 upgraded to V5R2
• V5R1 and V5R2 upgraded to V5R3
• V5R2 and V5R3 upgraded to V5R4

One way to migrate your Directory Server server is to upgrade to an interim release (V5R2 or V5R3), then to V5R4. For detailed information about i5/OS installation procedures, see Software Installation . Follow the following steps to perform the migration. Schema changes should be migrated automatically. After each installation, verify that the schema changes are still present.

1. For V4R4, do the install of V5R1. Then, do the install of V5R3.
2. For V4R5, do the install of V5R1 or V5R2. If installing to V5R1, you must then install to V5R2 or V5R3.
3. For V5R1, do the install of V5R3.
4. Once at V5R2 or V5R3, do the install of V5R4.
5. Start the Directory Server if not already started.
