Considerations for the SWTDSC parameter that can affect error recovery

By default, the value for the switched disconnect (SWTDSC) parameter is set to *YES for advanced program-to-program communications (APPC). This setting is the best for switched connections. It allows a switched line to be disconnected when the application is no longer using the line. You may want to consider changing the parameter value for error recovery to eliminate unnecessary disconnections. These unnecessary disconnections cause the iSeries™ server to do more work to disconnect then later reconnect. A common environment where this occurs is with personal computers on local area networks (LAN) that use the Client Access for Windows® or iSeries Access for Windows licensed program. The SWTDSC parameter is on the CHGCTLxxx or CRTCTLxxx command.
