This topic highlights some changes to the Socket programming for V5R4.
The support for the poll() API is added. The poll() API can be used to determine when the connection is completed.
The multicasting support for the AF_INET6 address family is added. New socket options are available to control this IPv6 multicasting support. See setsockopt() for more details on these options.
IPv6 is supported over all Ethernet adapters. Previously IPv6 support was limited to the 2838 Ethernet Adapter. Now IPv4, IPv6, and PPPoE can all be used on the same adapter.
A new cryptographic hardware card, 4764 Cryptographic Coprocessor, is supported when you want to use SSL with the cryptographic hardware.
