Send and receive e-mail on iSeries server

Your iSeries™ server is a mail server and has e-mail users (SNADS, POP, or Lotus^®) enrolled on it. Using either a POP client or a SNADS client, your e-mail users can send, receive, and read e-mail.

Your users can send and receive e-mail in the following different ways:

• Set up Post Office Protocol e-mail clients
  If you want to receive and store e-mails by using the Post Office Protocol (POP) server, you need to set up an e-mail client at first.
• QtmmSendMail API
  You can use the Send MIME Mail (QtmmSendMail) API to send e-mail from an iSeries program.
• JavaMail
  You can use JavaMail to develop e-mail client applications.
• Send spooled files as PDF files
  You can send spooled files in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and distribute the documents by e-mail.
• Use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol for addresses
  You can use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to provide a public address book based on the system directory.
• Use Systems Network Architecture Distribution Services to send e-mail
  You can send e-mail on an iSeries server with a Systems Network Architecture Distribution Services (SNADS) client program using the Send Distribution (SNDDST) command.
• Use Systems Network Architecture Distribution Services to receive e-mail
  You can receive mail on an iSeries server with a Systems Network Architecture Distribution Services (SNADS) client program using the Receive Distribution (RCVDST) command.
