Adjust your LAN-frame size

If the remote bridge drops your frames, you might need to adjust your LAN-frame size.

When the remote bridge drops your frames, change your frame size:

  1. Determine the new frame size. The network administrator should know what your frame size should be. You might also find that the frame size is contained within the QSYSOPR message queue in message CPF 5908. See View QSYSOPR or other message queues
  2. Determine which configuration object and MAXFRAME parameter to change. To determine this, see Bridges dropping frames.
  3. To change the parameter, see this information to determine which command to use:
    • Change line description commands:
      • Use the CHGLINTRN command for token-ring line descriptions.
    • Change controller description commands:
      • On an empty command line, type GO CMDCTL, and press Enter.
      • Enter the appropriate command into the command line, and press Enter.
      • Type the name of your controller, and press Enter.

See Token-ring line description commands for instructions on how to use the change line description commands.

  4. Press F9 to show all parameters.
  5. Locate the MAXFRAME parameter that you chose in step 2.
  6. Specify the value that you found in step 1.
  7. Press Enter to save your changes and exit the command.
