Each logical partition must have a console attached to it through an IOP. The console is the first workstation that the system activates. The system assumes that this console will always be available for use. You can access the dedicated service tools (DST) display only from this console.
A secondary partition console can be a twinaxial workstation, a local console on a network or a local console directly attached to the server.
For an Operations Console local console directly attached to the server configuration, the console IOP needs to be marked as both the console and electronic customer support (ECS) IOP.
For any other type of console, including Operations Console local console on a network configuration, Operations Console uses a token ring or Ethernet communication card, simply show the preferred type of IOP and select the desired one on the New Logical Partition - Console panel.
