To distribute software license information, complete
the following tasks.
- Distribute license keys using iSeries™ Navigator.
You can package and send license keys by using the Management Central distribution function available in iSeries Navigator.
- Distribute license information on paper:
- Prepare the license information for distribution:
- Find the Proof of Entitlement for each product you plan to distribute.
- Make copies of each Proof of Entitlement.
- Send a copy of each Proof of Entitlement along with the distribution media to each target system.
- After the distribution media is installed on the target system, update
the license information at the target system:
- Display a list of the installed products and features that use license management using the Work with License Information (WRKLICINF) command.
- Press F11 (Display usage information) to display the usage limit. The usage limit for a product is normally 0 if it has not been updated.
- Select option 5 (Display detail) to check the compliance type of the product. If the compliance type is *KEYED, continue to the next step. If the compliance type is *WARNING or *OPRACTION, set the usage limit for standard products and then continue to the next step.
- Type 1 (Add license key) in the option column next to the product you want to add and press Enter.
- Update the prompts to match the information you received from your software
provider and press Enter.
Normally, you need to update the license key and usage limit fields. In some cases, you may need to update the processor group, the expiration date, and the vendor data fields. The new usage limit is displayed on the Work with License Information display.
- Repeat the above steps for each product that is displayed by the WRKLICINF command.
