Able File Watcher Properties and Use

Properties

The Able File Watcher panel provides options to change these properties:

File Name
Enter the name of a file or directory to be watched. Use the Browse button to select a file if desired. This will be used when the button to Initialize the bean is pressed..
Watch Condition
Select one of the following watch conditions:
Modified is selected when you wish to act when the file's modification timestamp is altered.
Deleted is selected if you wish to act when the file is removed.
Size threshold is selected if you wish to act when the file's size exceeds the value you provide. The default value provided is the maxium allowed value for a Java Long datatype.
Action
Select one of the following actions to be performed when the watch condition is observed:
Notify listeners sends an AbleEvent to registered listeners.
Show alert dialog displays a default dialog that states the condition selected ocurred, and asks if you wish to continue watching or stop. You can implement and specify your own dialog if desired.
Execute command executes the command you specify.
None means no action is taken.
 

Use

The Able File Watcher panel is used to define the file watched, the condition of interest, and the action to perform.

Steps in using the panel include:

  1. Enter the name of the file to be watched. The Initialize button should now be enabled.
  2. If you would like to change the default watch condition or action to perform, change the selection as desired.
  3. Press the Initialize button. This starts timer event processing.
  4. To end processing, press the stop icon on the Agent Editor toolbar.
