The Data Entry panel displays a table containing a data record.
These columns are shown:
- Name
- The field name as listed in the definition file.
- Type
- The data type as listed in the definition file.
- Usage
- The data usage as listed in the definition file. You may
change this value.
- Value
- The value for this record from the data source. You may
change this value.
Note that the First, Previous record, and Last buttons are
only enabled if the bufferSize value is 0, which means all
records are resident in memory.
The Data Entry panel is used to display and modify data read
with an Import Bean. It is used to see what data is passed
through the data buffer, and can be changed there directly before
processing if desired.
If the Import's Definition File has not been opened, no data
will be displayed.
Steps in using the panel include:
- Press the Next record button to read a record from
the data source and display it on the screen.
- Modify data values if desired. If the import source is a
database, specify the usage values for any fields not to
be used as Input fields.
- Press the Process button to pass the data to the
next bean with a data buffer connection.
Other available buttons are:
- First
- Display the first record. Disabled if the first record is
already displayed or buffering is used.
- Previous record
- Read and display the previous record. Disabled if the
first record is already displayed or buffering is used.
- Last
- Display the last record. Disabled if the last record is
already displayed or buffering is used.
These buttons can only be enabled if the value of the record
cache count, or bufferSize, specifies that all records are
resident in memory. Reopen the data source if you change the
bufferSize value.
