<div><p>When either *RESET and VOLUME(*ALL) or *UPDATE and VOLUME(*ALL)
|
||
|
|
together are selected, it may require several hours for the Reclaim
|
||
|
|
Optical Index (RCLOPT) command to complete.</p>
|
||
|
|
<p> The time requirement is necessary because every volume in the optical
|
||
|
|
media library that is specified must be mounted and then read. The requested
|
||
|
|
databases are then updated before the next volume is mounted. The following
|
||
|
|
factors affect how long it takes the command to complete: </p>
|
||
|
|
<ul><li>How many libraries are being reclaimed</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>How many volumes are in each library</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>What type of reclaim is requested</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>How many directories are on each volume</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>
|
||
|
|
<p>After a reclaim command has started, it should not be canceled before it
|
||
|
|
has completed. If a reclaim command is canceled before it completes, it might
|
||
|
|
be necessary to run the RCLOPT again before the optical media library is in
|
||
|
|
a usable state.</p>
|
