<div><p>To change from twinaxial to Operations Console, you must perform
|
||
|
|
these steps on the server using the existing console prior to powering down
|
||
|
|
or performing an initial program load (IPL).</p>
|
||
|
|
<div class="section"> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If you need to add or move adapters to satisfy the hardware
|
||
|
|
requirements for Operations
|
||
|
|
Console, do this work before starting these migration steps. Do not move or
|
||
|
|
remove the twinaxial adapter from its current input and output processor (IOP)
|
||
|
|
at this time.</div>
|
||
|
|

|
||
|
|
<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Access <a href="../rzamh/rzamhaccess.htm">Dedicated
|
||
|
|
Service Tools (DST) or System Service Tools (SST)</a>. You must unlock
|
||
|
|
the SST option "Service tools device IDs" before it is usable.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Work with System Partitions</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Work with partition configuration</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Choose <span class="uicontrol">Select Console Resource</span> on the logical
|
||
|
|
partition.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F9</span> to <span class="uicontrol">Change capability
|
||
|
|
filter.</span></span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Any Console</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>To select the IOP that will support your intended console, do one
|
||
|
|
of the following:</span><ul><li>If the adapter to be used for the intended console is under the same
|
||
|
|
IOP as the previous console's adapter, the console IOP is already correctly
|
||
|
|
tagged. Go to step 8.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>If the adapter to be used for intended console is under a different
|
||
|
|
IOP than the currently configured console, place a <kbd class="userinput">1</kbd> in
|
||
|
|
front of the IOP to select it as the console IOP.</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>
|
||
|
|
</li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Verify the adapter for Electronic Customer Support (ECS) and an
|
||
|
|
optional alternate console (twinaxial console only). </span> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> The
|
||
|
|
selection of an alternate console only pertains when twinaxial workstations
|
||
|
|
are to be the alternate console and the console is also twinaxial console.
|
||
|
|
The alternate console <strong>must</strong> be under a different IOP than the IOP tagged
|
||
|
|
for use by Operations Console. Operations Console cannot be used as an alternate
|
||
|
|
console.</div>
|
||
|
|
<ul><li>To verify the console IOP for ECS, perform the following steps:</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>
|
||
|
|
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If you use Operations Console as your console type, you must also
|
||
|
|
tag the same IOP used for the console as the IOP for ECS even if you do not
|
||
|
|
use ECS.</div>
|
||
|
|
<ol type="a"><li><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F12</span> until you arrive at the <span class="uicontrol">Work
|
||
|
|
with Partition Configuration</span> window.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>Enter a <kbd class="userinput">9</kbd> in front of the partition to
|
||
|
|
be tagged for ECS.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>Look at the symbols on the same line as the tagged console IOP
|
||
|
|
(the console tag is the < symbol) for the ECS symbol which is the + (the
|
||
|
|
plus sign). If the + symbol is shown, the IOP is correctly tagged for ECS.
|
||
|
|
Go to step 9.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>To tag the console IOP for ECS, enter a <kbd class="userinput">1</kbd> in
|
||
|
|
front of the IOP to be tagged for ECS. </span></li>
|
||
|
|
</ol>
|
||
|
|
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If you will be using Operation Console as the intended console
|
||
|
|
you should now see both a < and a + associated with the console IOP.</div>
|
||
|
|

|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F3</span> to exit to the DST main menu.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Work with DST environment</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">System Devices</span> (skip this step if
|
||
|
|
using SST).</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Select Console</span>.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Use one of the following console choices to select the new console
|
||
|
|
type.</span><ul><li>If you select Operations Console (direct), option 2, continue with
|
||
|
|
step 14.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>If you select Operations Console (LAN), option 3, do the following:</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>
|
||
|
|
<ol type="a"><li><span>The Verify Operations Console Adapters window appears. This
|
||
|
|
is the resource found by the system to be used for your LAN connection. If
|
||
|
|
you receive the message <span class="uicontrol">No valid LAN adapter available</span> you
|
||
|
|
did not satisfy the hardware requirements
|
||
|
|
for Operations Console. If so, use <span class="uicontrol">F3</span> to exit to the
|
||
|
|
DST main menu, then, start this topic again at step 1 above.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F11</span> to configure the adapter.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>Enter the appropriate network data.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F7</span> to store the data.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
<li><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F14</span> to activate the adapter for
|
||
|
|
use by Operations Console.</span></li>
|
||
|
|
</ol>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F3</span> until you return to the DST main
|
||
|
|
menu.</span></li>
|
||

<p> If you do not plan to use the twinaxial device as an backup
|
||
|
|
console do not remove it or its adapter at this time. You may need it to debug
|
||
|
|
a problem. </p>

<p>The iSeries system value QAUTOCFG must be set to <span class="uicontrol">ON</span>.
|
||
|
|
Use one of the following to verify or set this system value on the iSeries
|
||
|
|
server:</p>
|
||
|
|
<ul><li>Use the <span class="cmdname">WRKSYSVAL QAUTOCFG</span> command.</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>During a manual IPL, in the IPL Options window, select <strong>Y</strong> for <span class="uicontrol">Set
|
||
|
|
major system options.</span> Then, for <span class="uicontrol">Enable automatic configuration</span>,
|
||
|
|
select <span class="uicontrol">Y</span>.</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>
|
||
|
|
<p>Continue with <a href="rzajrmigratepc2.htm#migratepc2">Configure
|
||
|
|
the PC to use the new console type after changing from a twinaxial console
|
||
|
|
to an Operations Console</a>.</p>
