for Windows</h1>
<div><p>Before you use Operations Console, you must install iSeries™ Access
for Windows<sup>®</sup>.</p>
<div class="section"> <p>During the installation of iSeries Access for Windows,
you are going to install a 5250 emulator or IBM<sup>®</sup> Personal Communications V5.8 (V5.7 CSD
1 minimum) and Operations Console support. See the iSeries Access web site for updated <a href="http://www.ibm.com/eservers/iseries/access/v5r2pcreq.htm" target="_blank">PC requirements</a>.</p>
<p>To check whether you have iSeries Access
for Windows installed:</p>

<ol><li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Start</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Settings</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Control Panel</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Double-click <span class="uicontrol">Add/Remove Programs</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Look for <samp class="codeph">IBM iSeries Access for Windows</samp>.</span></li>
<li><span>To close Add/Remove Programs, click <span class="uicontrol">Cancel</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Close the Control Panel.</span></li>
</ol>
<div class="section"> <p>If you do not have iSeries Access for Windows installed,
use the <em>iSeries Setup
and Operations</em> CD-ROM to install it:</p>
<ol><li>Insert the <em>iSeries Setup and Operations</em> CD-ROM in the CD-ROM
drive.</li>
<li>Select the <span class="uicontrol">iSeries Access for Windows</span> option to
start the installation.</li>
<li>Wait until the <span class="uicontrol">IBM iSeries Access for Windows</span> window
appears.</li>
<li>To continue with the setup program, click <span class="uicontrol">Next</span> and
follow the prompts. <p>Refer to <a href="../rzahg/rzahgicca2.htm">iSeries Access for Windows</a> for further installation assistance.</p>
</li>
<li>If you are installing iSeries Access for Windows for the first time, you have
to ensure that you have at least a minimum configuration for running Operations
Console. If you are only adding the Operations Console component, add only
the components necessary to meet this minimum configuration.</li>
<li>To ensure the minimum configuration takes place, select <span class="uicontrol">Custom</span> or <span class="uicontrol">Full</span> install
and select at least the following components: <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> The Operations Console
component is not available using the <span class="uicontrol">Typical</span> or <span class="uicontrol">PC5250
User</span> options.</div>
<ol type="a"><li><span class="uicontrol">Required Programs</span></li>
<li><span class="uicontrol">5250 Display and Printer Emulator</span> (if IBM Personal Communications
(V5.8 or V5.7 CSD 1 minimum) is not installed) <p>You do not need a license
to use 5250 Display Emulation just for Operations Console, even though the
window says that you do.</p>
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> If your Operations Console
configuration is going to support only the remote control panel, you do not
need to install an emulator.</div>

<li><span class="uicontrol">Operations Console</span>.</li>
</ol>
</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Next</span> and follow the prompts.</li>
<li><a href="rzajrapplyservicepacks.htm#applyservicepacks">Apply the latest
service pack</a> (program temporary fix (PTF)) for iSeries Access for Windows.</li>
