Evaluate the hardware limitations of the iSeries servers

The 6xx, 7xx, Sxx, 8xx, and 890 n-way base servers support logical
partitions (LPAR).

However, the 6xx, 7xx, and Sx0 models do not support the shared processor
pool or Linux® in
a secondary partition.

For upgrade customers, the current physical placement of hardware may restrict
your configuration choices. For server-specific information, consult the Technical
information section on the Logical Partition web site, and contact your business partner, marketing
representative, or service specialist.

Be sure that you have the right hardware and software for your server.
The following table list the LPAR hardware function by model.
