<div><p>This topic provides information about how to install and test the
HTTP Server and the <span>IBM<sup>®</sup> Web Administration for i5/OS™ interface</span> after
installation.</p>
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> Information
for this topic supports the latest PTF levels for HTTP Server for i5/OS .
It is recommended that you install the latest PTFs to upgrade to the latest
level of the HTTP Server for i5/OS. Some of the topics documented here are
not available prior to this update. <div class="section" id="rzaieinstalling__install"><a name="rzaieinstalling__install"><!-- --></a><h4 class="sectiontitle">Install the HTTP Server</h4><p>Version numbers
- <strong>Basic requirements</strong></p>
<ul><li>View the latest PTF requirements on the Internet at: <a href="http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/services/service.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/services/service.htm</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /><div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> To determine
your current HTTP Server (powered by Apache) version, use one of these methods:<ul><li>Use the "-V" option on STRTCPSVR. For example, if HTTP Server (powered
by Apache 2.0.43) is installed, <tt>STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(APACHEDFT
'-V')</tt> displays: <pre class="block">Server version: Apache/2.0.52
Server built: Jun 9 2005 15:57:01</pre>

<li>From the <span>IBM Web Administration for i5/OS interface</span> , select <span class="uicontrol">Manage
an HTTP server</span>. In the server introduction, the Apache version
level is included in the header. For example:<pre class="block">Manage Apache server "WEBSERVER" - Apache/2.0.52</pre>
</li>
</ul>

</li>
<li>View the HTTP Server compatibility information at: <a href="http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/product/compatibility.html" target="_blank">http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/product/compatibility.html</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /></li>
<li>Have a communication hardware adapter that is supported by the TCP/IP
protocol stack.</li>
<li>Add (ADDTCPIFC) and start (STRTCPIFC) at least one TCP/IP interface for
the system's TCP/IP communications. You can use the NETSTAT OPTION(*IFC)
command to work with the status of TCP/IP interfaces.</li>
<li>Specify the system's TCP/IP host and domain name (CHGTCPDMN command) information.</li>
<li>Add LOCALHOST to the TCP/IP host table.</li>
<li>Install i5/OS™ Version 5 Release 4 (5722-SS1).</li>
<li>Have IBM Developer
Kit for Java™ (5722-JV1) *BASE, Option 5, and Option 6 installed. <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> Java
1.3 (5722-JV1 option 5) or higher is required by the <span>IBM Web Administration for i5/OS interface</span> to
manage WebSphere<sup>®</sup> Application
Server V5.x servers, and Java 1.4 (5722-JV1 option 6) is required to manage
WebSphere Application Server V6.x servers. If more than one version of Java
is installed, the highest supported level is used. </div>
</li>
<li>Set the QSHRMEMCTL (shared memory) system value to 1. </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>WebSphere Application Server - Express for iSeries™</strong></p>
<p>See <a href="../rzamy/50/express.htm">WebSphere Application
Server - Express</a> for information on how to install.</p>
<p><strong>WebSphere
Application Server for iSeries</strong></p>
<p>If you plan to use WebSphere Application
Server with the HTTP Server (powered by Apache), you will need to perform
actions to install a version of the WebSphere Application Server Apache plug-in
that is compatible with your current level of HTTP Server (powered by Apache).
If the proper WebSphere Application Server PTFs are not loaded, the mismatch
will prevent the HTTP Server from starting. </p>
<p>See the <a href="http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/websphere/wsappserver/services/service.htm" target="_blank">WebSphere Application Server for iSeries product
Web page</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /> for information on the current PTFs, including those to upgrade to
the latest WebSphere Application Server Apache plugin. </p>
<p><strong>Optional
software</strong></p>
<ul><li>In order to provide the required support for handling digital server certificates
used by SSL for secure Web serving, you must install Option 34 i5/OS - Digital
Certificate Manager option (5722-SS1).</li>
<li>If you want to use the native OS/400<sup>®</sup> interface to create and edit HTML
files, install IBM WebSphere Development Studio for iSeries (5722-WDS).</li>
<li>If you want to configure a high availability Web server cluster, then
you need to install Option 41 HA Switchable Resources (5722-SS1), or use a
business partner tool to manage clusters. See <a href="../rzaig/rzaigicclust.htm">Clusters</a> for more information. </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>To install</strong></p>
<ol><li>Insert the installation media for HTTP Server into your system. </li>
<li>At the OS/400 command line, type <tt>GO LICPGM</tt> and press <strong>Enter</strong>.
</li>
<li>Select option <strong>11</strong> (Install licensed programs) on the Work with Licensed
Programs display to see a list of licensed programs. </li>
<li>Select and install 5722-DG1 (HTTP Server for iSeries). If you want to
use the <a href="rzaietriggeredcacheman.htm">Triggered Cache Manager</a>, install 5722-DG1 Option 1. See
the <a href="../books/sm07/c4151206.pdf" target="_blank">Software Installation guide</a> <img src="wbpdf.gif" alt="Link to PDF" /> for help with licensed program installation. </li>
</ol>

information on user profiles and the required authorities necessary for the
HTTP Server.</p>

<div class="section" id="rzaieinstalling__web"><a name="rzaieinstalling__web"><!-- --></a><h4 class="sectiontitle">Web browser requirements</h4><ul><li>To use the <span>IBM Web Administration for i5/OS interface</span> you
need a Web browser that supports the HTTP 1.0 or 1.1 protocol, frames, and
Java Script. Suggested Web browsers include Microsoft<sup>®</sup> Internet Explorer V5.0 or
higher and Firefox V1.0 or higher.</li>
</ul>

<div class="section" id="rzaieinstalling__pba"><a name="rzaieinstalling__pba"><!-- --></a><h4 class="sectiontitle">Test the installation of HTTP Server (powered by
Apache) </h4><p>The HTTP Server is installed with a default server called
APACHEDFT. To test your installation, do the following:</p>
<ol><li>Verify that you have an active connection from the computer with the browser
to the iSeries server. </li>
<li>Click the <strong>Manage</strong> tab.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>HTTP Servers</strong> subtab.</li>
<li>Select the APACHEDFT server from the <strong>Server list</strong>.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Start icon</strong> next to the <strong>Server list</strong>. </li>
<li>Click the Refresh icon and check if the server status is still shown as
"Running". <p>If your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) does not start, see <a href="rzaietrouble.htm">Troubleshoot</a>.</p>

<li>Open another Web browser of your choice (see <a href="rzaieinstalling.htm#rzaieinstalling__web">Web browser requirements</a>) and go to <samp class="codeph">http://<em>your.server.name</em></samp> where <em>your.server.name</em> is
the name of your iSeries to view the default Welcome page.</li>
