<div><p>To install and run Native Abstract Windowing Toolkit (NAWT), you
need to create a Virtual Network Computing (VNC) server password file. The
VNC server default setting requires a password file that it uses to protect
the VNC display against unauthorized user access. You must create the VNC
password file under the profile that starts the VNC server. </p>
<div class="section"><p>How you create an encrypted password depends on which version
of the PRPQ you are using:</p>
<ul><li>For versions of the PRPQ ordered on or after 14 June 2002, use the following
commands at the iSeries™ command
prompt: <pre> MKDIR DIR('/home/<em>VNCprofile</em>/.vnc')
QAPTL/VNCPASSWD USEHOME(*NO) PWDFILE('/home/<em>VNCprofile</em>/.vnc/passwd')</pre>
where <em>VNCprofile</em> is the profile that started the VNC server.</li>
<li>For versions of the PRPQ ordered before 14 June 2002, use the following
commands at the iSeries command
prompt: <pre> MKDIR DIR('/home/<em>VNCprofile</em>/.vnc')
VNCSAVF/VNCPASSWD USEHOME(*NO) PWDFILE('/home/<em>VNCprofile</em>/.vnc/passwd')</pre>
where <em>VNCprofile</em> is the profile that started the VNC server.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Notes:</strong> </p>
<p><strong>When
using NAWT with any version of J2SDK</strong></p>
<ul><li>Only the profile that starts the VNC server needs to have a VNC password
file.</li>
<li>To successfully start the VNC server, you must have a password file.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>When using NAWT with J2SDK, version 1.4 or a subsequent version</strong></p>
<ul><li>To gain interactive access to VNC server by using a VNCviewer or Web browser,
users must use the password that you specify in this step. </li>
