file system (QFileSvr.400)</h1>
<div><p><span>The QFileSvr.400 file system provides
transparent access to other file systems that reside on remote iSeries™ servers.
It is accessed through a hierarchical directory structure.</span></p>
<div class="section"><p>The QFileSvr.400 file system can be thought of as a client that
acts on behalf of users to perform file requests. QFileSvr.400 interacts
with the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> file server
on the target system to perform the actual file operation.</p>
</div>
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Use QFileSvr.400 through the integrated
file system interface</h4><p>The QFileSvr.400 file system can be accessed
through the integrated file system interface using either the <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> file
server or the integrated file system commands, user displays, and APIs.</p>
<p>In
using the integrated file system interfaces, you should be aware of the following
considerations and limitations.</p>

file system are determined by the characteristics of the file system being

For a first-level directory, which actually represents the <span class="q">"root"</span> (/)
directory of the target system, the QFileSvr.400 file system preserves the
same uppercase and lowercase form in which object names are entered.</li>

<span>The QFileSvr.400 file system communicates
