<div><p>Use this information to verify that your server meets hardware
and software prerequisites before implementing a single signon environment.</p>
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">V5R4 iSeries™ server requirements</h4><div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> Single signon
is also available in <span class="keyword">OS/400<sup>®</sup></span> Version
5 Release 2 (V5R2) and <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> V5R3.
However, the detailed configuration information in this topic is based on
the new single signon function that is only available in <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> V5R4
or later, such as policy associations. </div>
<p>To create a successful single
signon environment, ensure that all these requirements are met:</p>
<ul><li><span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> Version 5 Release
4 (5722-SS1) is installed.</li>
<li>Latest <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> program
temporary fixes (PTFs) are applied.</li>
<li><span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows<sup>®</sup></span>, Version 5 Release
4(5722-XE1) is installed.</li>
<li>Latest <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> V5R4 <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span> service pack is installed. <p>For
information about acquiring the latest service pack, see <a href="http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/access/casp.htm" target="_blank">iSeries Access</a>.</p>
</li>
<li><span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> Host Servers
(5722-SS1 Option 12) is installed.</li>
<li>Qshell Interpreter (5722-SS1 Option 30) is installed.</li>
<li>TCP/IP and basic system security are configured.</li>
</ul>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If you intend to use the Synchronize Functions wizard in <span class="keyword">iSeries Navigator</span> to propagate an existing
single signon configuration across multiple systems, you need to configure
the systems to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect the transmission
of sensitive configuration information, such as passwords. </div>
</div>
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Client PC requirements</h4><p>To create a successful single
signon environment, ensure that all these requirements are met:</p>
<ul><li>Microsoft<sup>®</sup> <span class="keyword">Windows 2000</span> or Microsoft Windows XP operating system is used.</li>
<li> <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span>, Version 5 Release
4 (5722-XE1) is installed.<ul><li>Network component of <span class="keyword">iSeries Navigator</span> is
installed on PC that administers single signon.</li>
<li>Security component of <span class="keyword">iSeries Navigator</span> is
installed on PC that administers single signon.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Latest <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> V5R4 <span class="keyword">iSeries Access for Windows</span> service pack is installed. <p>For
information about acquiring the latest service pack, see <a href="http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/access/casp.htm" target="_blank">iSeries Access</a>.</p>

<li>TCP/IP is configured.</li>
</ul>

<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Microsoft Windows server requirements</h4><p>To
create a successful single signon environment, ensure that all these requirements
are met:</p>
<ul><li>Hardware planning and setup are completed.</li>
<li><span class="keyword">Windows 2000</span> Server or Windows Server
2003 is used.</li>
<li>Windows Support
Tools (which provides the ktpass tool) is installed.</li>
<li>TCP/IP is configured.</li>
<li><span class="keyword">Windows 2000</span> domain is configured.</li>
<li>Users within the network are added to a <span class="keyword">Windows 2000</span> domain
through Microsoft Windows Active Directory.</li>
</ul>

for your single signon implementation. Each work sheet contains a list of
tasks that need to be completed.</p>
