<h1 class="topictitle1">iSeries I/O
adapters (IOAs) supported by Linux</h1>
<div><p>OAs can be assigned to a logical partition. The iSeries™ supports
the following adapters in a logical partition running Linux.</p>
<p>The Linux acenic, olympic, and pcnet32 device drivers are available with
Linux. These drivers are compiled into the kernel and are available from your
preferred Linux distributor. </p>
<p>The ibmsis driver provides an interface for the operating system to communicate
with certain tape, optical, and disk adapter controllers. The most current
version of this device driver can be found at the <a href="http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/linux" target="_blank">Linux for iSeries</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /> Web site. All new tape, optical, and disk adapters
are controlled using the opensource ipr device driver. This device driver
is available from your preferred Linux distributor as a kernel module. Additionally,
the ipr device driver has a site available at: <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/iprdd/" target="_blank">SourceForge</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /></p>
<p>The icom driver is an open-source device driver available with Linux. This
driver can be compiled into the kernel and may be available from your preferred
Linux distributor. To order the WAN adapters CCIN 2745 or 2772, it may be
necessary to order hardware RPQs 847141, 847142, or 847143 when the order
feature codes 0608, 0609, or 0610 are not available. WAN adapter CCIN 2771
is a base adapter for the server and can be used with Linux, but it is not
a separately orderable feature. </p>
<p>The lpfc driver provides an interface for the operating system to communicate
with disk unit sub-servers across fibre channel. The most current version
of this device driver can be found at the <a href="http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/linux" target="_blank">Linux for iSeries</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /> Web site. Supported configurations include direct
attach, managed hubs, and switched fabric topologies. To order the fibre channel
adapter CCIN 2766, it may be necessary to order hardware RPQ 847145 when the
order feature code 0612 is not available. </p>
<p>The e1000 driver is available from Intel™. This device driver can be compiled
into the kernel and may be available from your preferred Linux distributor.
The most current version of this device can be found at the <a href="http://support.intel.com/support/network/adapter/1000/index.htm" target="_blank">http://support.intel.com/support/network/adapter/1000/index.htm</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /> Web
site. </p>
<p>This list may change between i5/OS® release boundaries. Refer to the <a href="http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/linux" target="_blank">Linux
for iSeries</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /> Web site.</p>
