<h2 id="as4obj">View a list of iSeries NetServer shared objects</h2>
<p>You can use iSeries NetServer&trade; to access shared resources on an iSeries network. These
shares consist of the following items, called <span class="bold">shared objects</span>:</p>
<ul>
<li><span class="bold">File shares</span>, which share integrated file system
directories on iSeries</li>
<li><span class="bold">Print shares</span>, which share iSeries output queues</li></ul>
<p>You can view a list of shared objects from within iSeries Navigator, which allows
you to see all of the objects that iSeries is currently sharing with PC clients
by using iSeries NetServer.</p>
<p>To view a list of currently shared objects in iSeries Navigator, follow these steps:</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>In iSeries Navigator, expand <span class="bold">Network</span>.</li>
<li>Expand <span class="bold">Servers</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">TCP/IP</span> to view a list of TCP/IP servers available.</li>
<li>Right-click <span class="bold">iSeries NetServer</span> and select <span class="bold">Open</span>.</li>
<li>Expand <span class="bold">Shared Objects</span> to display a list of currently
shared objects.</li></ol>
<p><span class="bold">Tip:</span></p>
<p>You can also display a list of iSeries NetServer shared objects by using Windows clients.
To do so, follow these steps:</p>
<p><span class="bold">For Windows 2000:</span></p>
<ol type="1">
<li>Open the Windows <span class="bold">Start</span> menu.</li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">Search</span>.</li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">For files or Folders...</span></li>
<li>Click the <span class="bold">Computers</span> link.</li>
<li>In the <span class="bold">Computer Name</span> field, specify the server name
of iSeries NetServer.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Search Now</span>.</li>
<li>Open iSeries NetServer by double-clicking the found computer.</li></ol>
<p><span class="bold">For Windows XP:</span></p>
<ol type="1">
<li>Open the Windows <span class="bold">Start</span> menu.</li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">Search</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Computers or People</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">A Computer in the Network</span>.</li>
<li>Specify the server name for iSeries NetServer in the appropriate field.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Search</span>.</li>
<li>Open iSeries NetServer by double-clicking the found computer.</li></ol>
<p><span class="bold">For Windows Server 2003:</span></p>
<ol type="1">
<li>Open the Windows <span class="bold">Start</span> menu.</li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">Search</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Other search objects</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Printer, computers, or people</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">A computer in the network</span>.</li>
<li>Specify the server name for iSeries NetServer in the appropriate field.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Search</span>.</li>
<li>Open iSeries NetServer by double-clicking the found computer.</li></ol>

<div class="notetitle" id="wq63">Note:</div>
<div class="notebody">You must enroll all users who are working with shared objects
from the QDLS file system into the iSeries system distribution directory. Users
who are not enrolled in the system distribution directory are not able to
access file shares from the QDLS file system. Use the Add Directory Entry
(ADDDIRE) CL command to enroll users in the system distribution directory.</div>
