<div><p>This topic discusses how to view messages from the integrated Linux<sup>®</sup> server.</p>
<div class="section"><p>The iSeries™ Integrated
Server Support software issues messages for integrated Linux and Windows<sup>®</sup> servers
in the following ways:</p>
<ul><li>Through the servers monitor job.</li>
<li>Through the QSYSOPR message queue.</li>
</ul>
<p>Both of these sources can contain valuable information relating to Linux servers
that can help you in problem determination.</p>
<p>You can view
the job log of the servers monitor job using either iSeries Navigator or the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> command
line. Note that the server needs to be started before you can view the job
log.</p>

<div><div class="section"><p>To view the job log of the servers monitor job through iSeries Navigator,
complete the following steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>Launch iSeries Navigator from your Windows desktop.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">iSeries connection</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol"> Work
Management</span></span></span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Active Jobs</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Scroll down the list of jobs in the right-hand window until you
see the jobs running in the QSYSWRK subsystem. Look for a job with the same
name as the NWSD of the Linux server.</span></li>
<li><span>Right-click the name of the server whose job log you want to view.
Select <span class="uicontrol">Job Log</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>You can view detailed information for any of the messages shown
by double-clicking a message ID.</span></li>

following steps:</p>

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">WRKACTJOB</kbd> (Work with Active Jobs command)
on an <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> command line.
Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Scroll down until you see the jobs running in the QSYSWRK subsystem.
Look for a job with the same name as the NWSD of the Linux server.
Type <kbd class="userinput">5</kbd> next to the servers monitor job.</span> </li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">10</kbd> to display the job log. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Press <span class="uicontrol">F10</span> to display detailed messages.</span> </li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Scroll up and down through the messages by pressing the Page up
and Page down keys.</span></li>

steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>Launch iSeries Navigator from your Windows desktop.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">iSeries connection</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Basic
Operations</span></span></span></li>
<li><span>Before you can view the QSYSOPR message queue through iSeries Navigator,
you need to make QSYSOPR the default queue.</span><ol type="a"><li><span>Right-click <span class="uicontrol">Messages</span> and select <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Customize this view</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Include</span></span> </span></li>
<li><span>Click the button with the three dots (...).</span></li>
<li><span>Click the <span class="uicontrol">System operator</span> radio button.
Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>The system operators message queue (QSYSOPR) is now the default
message queue.</span></li>

<li><span>Click Messages in the left pane to view the QSYSOPR message queue.</span></li>
<li><span>Double-click an entry in the From user column to view detailed
information for a message.</span></li>

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">DSPMSG QSYSOPR</kbd> (Display Messages for
QSYSOPR) on an <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> command
line. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>You can scroll through the messages by pressing the Page up and
Page down keys. Note that the most recent messages are at the bottom.</span> <p>To view detailed information for a message, use the up and down arrow
keys to move the cursor to the message you want to see and press <span class="uicontrol">F1</span>.</p>
