<div><p>Certain authority levels are required before you can work with
threads. </p>
<p>To view and change most attributes of a thread you need to have *JOBCTL
special authority, or your user profile needs to match the job user identity
of the job containing the thread. To change the run priority of a thread,
you must have *JOBCTL special authority. Thread Control authority will allow
you to view some of the attributes of a thread.</p>
<p>To hold or release a thread, you need to have *JOBCTL special authority
or Thread Control authority, or your user profile needs to match the job user
identity of the job containing the thread. To end a thread, you need to have
*SERVICE special authority or Thread Control authority. </p>
<p>For any thread attributes that refer to an iSeries™ object, such as a library in
the library list, the user needs to have the proper authority to the object. </p>

<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> Thread Control authority allows you to retrieve information about threads
of another job. Thread Control can be granted and revoked for individual users
by using iSeries Navigator's
Application Administration support, or by using the Change Function Usage
Information (QSYCHFUI) API, with a function ID of QIBM_SERVICE_THREAD. For
