The IBM<sup>®</sup> <span><img src="eserver.gif" alt="eServer" /></span> iSeries™ system allows frame-relay connections

to remote systems that support the Systems Network Architecture (SNA) direct

format that is defined by the Frame-Relay Forum IA 3.1. In this

||

format, the frame-relay packets encapsulate the SNA data.</li>

The iSeries™ system

allows frame-relay connections to remote systems that support the IP direct

packets encapsulate the TCP/IP data.</li>

The iSeries™ system

allows frame-relay connections to remote local area networks (LANs) that support

the bridged frame-relay formats defined by the Frame-Relay Forum IA 3.1. Most
|
||
|
|
bridges, routers, and communication controllers support these formats.</li>

||

<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="rzak3rzak3conwofr.htm">System connection without a frame-relay network</a></strong><br />
|
||
|
|
You can establish frame-relay connections without a frame-relay network, similar to the X.25 DTE-to-DTE mode. This type of configuration supports both Systems Network Architecture (SNA) direct and bridged frame-relay formats.</li>
