<li><span>Locate your line description, and place your cursor in its <strong>Opt</strong> field.</span></li>

<li><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">8</kbd> (Work with status) and press <kbd class="userinput">Enter</kbd>.</span></li>

<li><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">2</kbd> (Vary off) and press <kbd class="userinput">Enter</kbd>.

If your line description does not vary off, place your cursor on the error

||
|
|
message and press <kbd class="userinput">F1</kbd> (Help) to view more information
|
||
|
|

the line description being changed) and press <kbd class="userinput">F4</kbd> (Prompt).</span></li>

<li><span>Specify the correct values for the <strong>Line speed</strong> field and
|
||
|
|
the <strong>Duplex</strong> field. If you are not familiar with the input/output adapter
|
||
|
|
(IOA), see Hardware requirements for Ethernet.</span></li>

<li><span>If you are using this line description with TCP/IP, ensure that
|
||
|
|
source service access point (SSAP) <span>X'AA'</span> and its associated information
|
||
|
|
are in the <strong>SSAP list</strong> field.</span></li>

<li><span>If you want to use the larger frame sizes of Gigabit or 10 Gigabit
|
||
|
|
Ethernet, ensure that all the nodes along the communications path can support

||
|

the frame sizes.</span></li>
