<h1 class="topictitle1">Your SNA service access points</h1>
<div><p>If you decide to change the default Systems Network Architecture
(SNA) service access points (SAPs) or add more SAPs, you must define them
in the line and controller descriptions.</p>
<p>On the system, you define the source SAPs, or in other
words the source service access points (<a href="rzajuhigherlayersoverlanprotocols.htm#higher_layers_over_lan_protocols__ssaps_and_dsaps">SSAPs</a>). You can specify up to 24 SSAPs per line description when you define the
SAPs. The SSAPs that your controller description uses must come from the line
description that is associated with the controller description.</p>
<p>Your controller description specifies the destination service access points <a href="rzajuhigherlayersoverlanprotocols.htm#higher_layers_over_lan_protocols__ssaps_and_dsaps">(DSAPs)</a> to
which your line description can connect. </p>
<p>You should remember this point when specifying your SSAPs and DSAPs: your
DSAP is the SSAP of the remote device, and the DSAP of the remote device is
your SSAP. For example, this table shows how to define the SSAPs and DSAPs
when your SSAP is 04 and the remote SSAP is 08:</p>
<div class="tablenoborder"><a name="your_saps__local_remote_saps_tb"><!-- --></a><table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" summary="" id="your_saps__local_remote_saps_tb" class="singleborder" frame="border" border="1" rules="all"><caption>Table 1. Local
and remote SSAPs and DSAPs</caption><thead align="left"><tr valign="bottom"><th align="center" valign="bottom" width="50%" id="d0e32">Local device</th>
<th align="center" valign="bottom" width="50%" id="d0e34">Remote device</th>

<p>For SNA, you must use certain SSAP values. You can find the help for selecting
these values by pressing F1 (Help) while your cursor is on the SSAP list field
of the line description.</p>
