<div><p>You can assign the token-ring line description to a new or an existing
TCP/IP interface through <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> Navigator.</p>
<div class="section"> <p>After <a href="rzajuchangingldtouse100mb.htm#changing_ld_to_use_100mb">changing
the existing line description</a> that will be used with the 100 Mbps adapter,
you assign the line description to a TCP/IP interface. You do not need to
do this if you are using the line description with Systems Network Architecture
(SNA).</p>
<p id="assign_line_description__tcp_over_token-ring"><a name="assign_line_description__tcp_over_token-ring"><!-- --></a><strong>Assign the line description
to a TCP/IP interface:</strong></p>
<p>To assign the line description
to a new interface, you must follow the procedure in <a href="rzajusettinguptcpovertokenring.htm#setting_up_tcp_over_token-ring">Configure
TCP/IP over token ring</a> to create the interface. During this creation
process, you must choose your description from a list of line descriptions.</p>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If
other entities know the burned-in address of your old adapter, you must replace
that address with the address of the 100 Mbps adapter. This is required if
you want them to communicate with the adapter. You can use a locally administered
address to avoid these kinds of changes in the future (see <a href="rzajuchoosinglanphysicaladdress.htm#choosing_lan_physical_address">LAN
IOA address</a> for more information).</div>
<p>To associate your line
description with an existing interface, do these steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>If you have not done so already, <a href="../rzaj2/rzaj2enableopsnav.htm">install</a> <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> Navigator.</span></li>
<li><span>If this is the first time you are using <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> Navigator
to access your server, use the wizard to <a href="../rzai2/rzai2custom.htm">configure</a> TCP/IP on the system.</span></li>
<li><span>In the navigation bar, expand the server that contains the changed
line description.</span></li>
<li><span>Select <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Network</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Protocol</span></span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Right-click <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Interface</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Double-click the interface that you will assign the line description
to.</span></li>
<li><span>Click the <span class="uicontrol">Resource</span> tab and select your line
description from the <span class="uicontrol">Line name</span> option.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>, and then click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> again.</span></li>
