<div><p>This topic provides information about how to set up a proxy chain
with your HTTP Server and other proxy servers with the <span>IBM<sup>®</sup> Web Administration for i5/OS™ interface</span>.</p>
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> Information
for this topic supports the latest PTF levels for HTTP Server for i5/OS .
It is recommended that you install the latest PTFs to upgrade to the latest
level of the HTTP Server for i5/OS. Some of the topics documented here are
not available prior to this update. <p>Configure your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for <a href="rzaieproxytypes.htm#chaining">proxy chaining</a> using the <span>IBM Web Administration for i5/OS interface</span>.
Only the steps necessary to configure a proxy chain are discussed. Before
you can configure your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for a proxy chain,
you must configure your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for forward proxy
or reverse proxy.</p>
<p>To configure your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for a proxy chain, do
the following:</p>
<ol><li>Click the <strong>Manage</strong> tab.</li>
<li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">HTTP Servers</span> subtab.</li>
<li>Select your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) from the <strong>Server</strong> list.</li>
<li>Select <strong>Global configuration</strong> from the <strong>Server area</strong> list.<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If
you want to configure a proxy chain for a virtual host, select the virtual
host from the <strong>Server area</strong> list. See <a href="rzaiejklvirtualhost.htm">JKL Toy Company creates virtual hosts on HTTP Server (powered by Apache)</a> for more information.</div>
</li>
<li>Expand <strong>Server Properties</strong>.</li>
<li>Click <strong>Proxy</strong>.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Proxy Chaining</strong> tab in the form.</li>
<li>Click <strong>Add</strong> under the <strong>Remote proxies</strong> table.</li>
<li>Enter the URL of the remote proxy in the <strong>Remote proxy URL</strong> column.<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If
you are not using the default port 80, include the port number with the remote
proxy URL.</div>
<p>Example: http://www.myserver.com:1975</p>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> For the
remote server, only the HTTP protocol is supported. HTTPS and FTP are not
supported in the remote proxy URL field. </div>

<li>Enter the full or partial URL in the <strong>Match requests to forward</strong> column.</li>
<li>Click <strong>Continue</strong>.</li>
<li>Click <strong>OK</strong>.</li>
