<div><p>Running maintenance on your server automatically performs Backup,
|
||
|
|
Recovery and Media Services (BRMS) cleanup. updates save information, and
|
||
|
|
runs reports. </p>
|
||
|
|
<p>You should run maintenance every day. You can customize which activities
|
||
|
|
you want to perform when you run maintenance.</p>
|
||
|
|
<p>If you do not customize the maintenance activities, the following are performed:</p>
|
||
|
|
<ul><li>Expire media</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Remove media information</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Remove migration information (180 days old)</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Remove log entries (from beginning entry to within 90 days of current
|
||
|
|
date)</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Run cleanup</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Retrieve volume statistics</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Audit system media (if you are working in a network)</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Change journal receivers</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Print expired media report</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Print media audit information</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Print version report</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Print media information</li>
|
||
|
|
<li>Print recovery reports</li>
|
||
|
|
</ul>

<p>To run maintenance in iSeries™ Navigator, right-click <span class="uicontrol">Backup,
|
||
|
|
Recovery and Media Services</span> and select <span class="uicontrol">Run Maintenance</span>.
|
||
|
|
If you want to customize the maintenance activities, click <span class="uicontrol">Options</span>.
|
||
|
|
There is also an option to run maintenance at the end of a backup in the
|
||
|
|
properties for each backup policy.</p>
|
||
|
