This tool is often used with PM <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> to
|
||
|
analyze trends in system performance and helps you efficiently manage the
|
||
|
growth and expansion of your <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> server.</p>
|
||
|
<p>The Workload Estimator helps you size system needs based on estimated workloads
|
||
|
for specific workload types. PM <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> is
|
||
|
an integrated <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> function
|
||
|
that users under processor warranty or on an IBM<sup>®</sup> maintenance agreement can activate for
|
||
|
no additional charge. In return, you receive capacity and performance analysis
|
||
|
graphs useful in planning for and managing system growth and performance.</p>
|
||
|
<p>The Workload Estimator and PM <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> have
|
||
|
been enhanced to work with one another. Through a web-based application, you
|
||
|
can size the upgrade to the required <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> system
|
||
|
that accommodates your existing system's utilization, performance, and growth
|
||
|
as reported by PM <span class="keyword">iSeries</span>.
|
||
|
As an additional option, sizings can also include capacity for adding specific
|
||
|
applications like Domino<sup>®</sup>, Java™, and WebSphere<sup>®</sup>, or the consolidation of
|
||
|
multiple AS/400<sup>®</sup> or <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> traditional <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> workloads
|
||
|
on one system. This capability allows you to plan for future system requirements
|
||
|
based on existing utilization data coming from your own system.</p>
