<h4 id="rzahqmtuconsconf">Configuring virtual Ethernet for maximum performance on iSCSI networks
that support frames larger than 1500 bytes</h4>
<p>At the Windows console, perform the following steps:</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>Navigate to the <span class="bold">Network Connections Window</span>.</li>
<li>Double click the iSCSI adapter that is connected to the iSCSI network
supporting frames larger than 1500 bytes.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Properties</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Configure</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Advanced</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Ethernet Frame Size</span>.</li>
<li>Select a value that is as large as possible without exceeding the iSCSI
network's maximum frame size.</li></ol>

<div class="notebody">Related configuration items listed below should be left at
their default values:
<ul>
<li>For Windows virtual Ethernet adapters, <span>Maximum
Frame Size</span> defaults to Auto. Auto causes virtual Ethernet to calculate
a maximum frame size based on the <span>Ethernet Frame
Size</span> of the iSCSI HBA port used. See <a href="rzahqmanagiscshbaalocatwin.htm#rzahqmanagiscshbaalocatwin">Manage iSCSI HBA allocation at the Windows side of the iSCSI network</a> for
an explanation of iSCSI HBA port useage.</li>
<li>In i5/OS&trade; virtual Ethernet line descriptions, <span class="bold">Maximum frame
size (MAXFRAME)</span> defaults to <span class="bold">8996</span>.</li>
<li>In i5/OS TCP/IP interfaces for virtual Ethernet, <span class="bold">Maximum
