<div><p>You can often solve problems that occur on your system with methodical
analysis.</p>
<p>If you do need the help of a hardware service provider, you will need to
have as much information to offer that person as possible to help them resolve
the problem quickly and accurately.</p>
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Things to keep in mind while troubleshooting problems</h4><div class="p"> <ul><li>Has there been an external power outage or momentary power loss? </li>
<li>Has the hardware configuration changed?</li>
<li>Has system software been added?</li>
<li>Have any new programs or program changes been recently installed?</li>
</ul>

<div class="p">To make sure that your licensed programs and products have been
correctly installed, use the Check Product Option (CHKPRDOPT) command. <ul><li>Have any system values changed?</li>
<li>Has any system tuning been done?</li>
</ul>

<p>After considering this information, you are ready to begin problem
analysis. Go to Start problem analysis.</p>
